Former health secretary Jeremy Hunt made chancellor

Former Health Secretary Jeremy Hunt has been made chancellor, following the sacking of Kwasi Kwarteng earlier today.

The appointment makes him the fourth Chancellor this year.

Elected Conservative MP for South West Surrey in May 2005, he previously served as secretary of state for health and social care from 2012 to 2018 under David Cameron and Theresa May and Foreign Secretary from 2018 to 2019 under Theresa May.
