NHS ‘not on the table’ in US trade negotiations

Prime Minister Boris Johnson welcomed US Vice President Mike Pence to Downing Street but warned him that the NHS is ‘not on the table’ during any post-Brexit trade deal with the US.

Johnson said he would not allow the health service to be carved up in trade negotiations with America.

Further details of their discussion have not been revealed, but Pence did say that US President Donald Trump had emphasised he was ‘ready, willing and able" to strike a free trade deal ‘immediately’ after the UK had left the European Union.
