NHS Digital has agreed a deal that will allow NHS organisations to make better use of their machine generated information through a market-leading data monitoring and analytics platform.
The organisation says that the new framework will provide local NHS organisations with a more cost-effective approach to utilising Splunk Enterprise, a data analytics and processing software, in driving operational insight from machine data.
Based on the commercial partnership that currently exists between Splunk and NHS Digital, the deal will enable local organisations to access real-time data across a range of services that will help to protect against service issues. This will help trusts to minimise service outages, as well as help to protect from potential cyber threats.
NHS Digital claims that the platform can also be used to help reduce system incidents by up to 45 per cent and improve detection and investigation of security threats by up to 90 per cent.
Mike Flintoft, associate director for Platforms and Infrastructure at NHS Digital, said: “Splunk Enterprise has been a key strategic product for NHS Digital for several years and has had a real benefit to ensuring the systems and platforms that the NHS rely on are monitored and available to support patient care.”

UK Building Regulations highlight toxic gas and smoke from layers of paint built up over multiple redecorations as a major cause of permanent ill health or death in a building fire.
