Health Business Awards winners announced
The winners of the 2018 Health Business Awards have been announced, following a dinner and awards ceremony at London’s Grange Hotel.
Presented by comedian and former doctor Adam Kay, multi-award-winning author of This Is Going To Hurt, the awards was once again staged in order to recognise the many examples of innovation and excellence that happen every day in our health service.
The top-billed Outstanding Achievement in Healthcare Award, sponsored by Accruent UK, was presented to Kingston Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. As the first acute trust in the region to receive a Care Quality Commission Outstanding rating for being well-led, this years winner was chosen to be part of a pilot which aims to reduce waiting times further. Dementia care, palliative care and sexual health services have all received praise from inspectors, as well as from Health Business magazine.
Across the remaining 21 categories there were notable winners across the country in a wide range of specialities and functions, including the University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Foundation Trust, which was successful in both the Healthcare Recruitment and Estates & Facilities Innovation Award categories.
There was also recognition for work being carried out in the capital, with London Ambulance Service winning the Ambulance Trust of the Year Award and London Air Ambulance successful in the Air Ambulance Award category, for testing a new blood product on its aircraft. North West Ambulance Service were also worthy winners in the NHS Publicity Campaign Award category for promoting alternatives to dialling 999.
With 2018 marking the 70th anniversary of the NHS this year’s ceremony held particular significance for all of our shortlisted trusts and organisations. A full list of winners and the reasons behind their success can be found on the Health Business Awards website.
