NHS England promoting careers in the NHS
Marking the 70th anniversary of the NHS, Yvonne Coghill is visiting St Charles Catholic Sixth Form College in London to help promote careers in the NHS.
NHS England’s director of the Workforce Race Equality Standard will give an assembly to over 200 students studying health and social care, psychology, sociology, science and criminology, allowing students the opportunity to find out more about potential future career opportunities across the NHS, take part in an question and answer session and discover more about Coghill’s own career highlights and journey.
Speakers for Schools, which has adopted the involvement of NHS England and NHS Improvement this year, s giving school pupils access to insights and advice from individuals who are at the top of the health profession, helping broaden students’ horizons in what they can achieve.
The NHS 70 celebrations has also seen a £8 million pound TV advertising campaign launched in July to recruit thousands of nurses, highlighting the vast range of opportunities available in the NHS for potential new recruits, prioritising key areas including mental health, learning disability and community and general practice nurses and will help deliver the long term plan for the NHS.
Coghill said: “I am absolutely delighted and honoured to participate in the Speakers for schools programme as part of celebrations to mark the 70th birthday of the NHS. This has been a great opportunity for me to speak to young students who aspire to be the nursing, health and social care workforce of the future. I hope my experience and the journey of my career can help others to see how rewarding it can be to work in our NHS.”
