Calderdale award 12-year PFI contract to ISS

Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Foundation Trust has awarded a 12-year extention to ISS for their Private Finance Initiative (PFI) contract.

The trust has signed an agreement for the Calderdale Royal Hospital in Halifax, worth in excess of £102 million, with ISS that will see its health division continue to provide a wide range of soft FM services to the organisation, including healthcare cleaning; patient catering; retail catering; logistics; portering; security; car parking; switchboard and help desk services; linen distribution and sewing room services.

ISS currently employs over 575 people at the hospital, and has been working with the trust for the last 20 years.

Gary Boothby, director of Finance at the trust, said: “ISS has been a partner with the trust for over 20 years and along with delivering a high standard of service and value for money, have continued to support the organisation in achieving improved standards and increased efficiency. This extended agreement would not have happened had ISS not been seen as a strong, long term partner for the trust.”

Chris Ash, managing director, ISS Healthcare, said: “This agreement will see ISS take the PFI from conception right through to the contract term, which is a testament to everyone involved. We have always worked hard to maintain the highest possible standards whilst looking to lead the way in innovation around the patient experience."
