BMA seeking to shape the NHS of the future

Chaand Nagpaul, council chair of the British Medical Association, is to lead a project seeking to develop a vision for what an improved health and care system could look like.

Known as Caring, supportive, collaborative: a future vision for the NHS, the project’s main areas of focus are on increasing collaboration and integration in the NHS, creating a more supportive culture and boosting the NHS workforce.

Nagpaul said: “The NHS is in a perilous state. The facts speak for themselves – waiting times, bed occupancy rates, A&E attendances have all risen. Underfunding has left the NHS with a £10 billion shortfall annually compared to other EU countries.”
