NHS pay rise to be considered in Wales

Following the pay rise agreement for nurses in England, NHS managers and unions will meet the Welsh government to discuss a similar pay arrangement.

Celebrating the £4.2 billion deal, Health Secretary Jeremy Hunt urged Wales to match the offer, worth at least 6.5 per cent over three years to staff such as nurses and porters. This means some of the lowest-paid workers could receive a 29 per cent rise.

Welsh Health Secretary Vaughan Gething has pledged that all additional money received from the Treasury, expected to be approximately £210 million, will go into NHS pay in Wales.
