Jeremy Hunt's title changes to Health and Social Care Secretary

Jeremy Hunt, the Health Secretary, has had his role changed to Health and Social Care Secretary in Theresa May's latest cabinet reshuffle.

Currently, social care is funded through local government. The minister responsible for adult social care in Department for Communities and Local Government was Marcus Jones, who has lost his job in the reshuffle. Hunt’s new title however means he may take over responsibility for this portfolio.

The move could be a real step towards the integration of health and social care, a long-term ambition for policy makes in this area.

More to follow shortly.
