NHS Employers has updated its employment checks document cross reference tool to reflect the recent changes to documentary evidence required to apply of a criminal record check with the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS check).
The tool helps recruiting managers identify which documents can be used as part of the pre-employment check process.
The new DBS guidelines will run in parallel with the existing guidelines from 24 October 2017 to 25 January 2018, when the existing guidelines will cease to apply, allowing employers to make the necessary adjustments to their recruitment processes.
The documentary changes include: applicants needing to be fingerprinted if they fail to provide certain documentation from one of three routes; a split of ‘primary’ documents and ‘group 1’ supporting documents for non-EEA applicants; and current full of provisional photo card driving licenses from outside the EEA are now accepted as a supporting document.
