BHF urges people to get cycling

The BHF is calling on people in the Midlands to get back on their bikes, after research carried out by the charity found that one in eight of people do not know how to ride a bike.

According to the BHF cycling as it's a ‘fantastic way of keeping your heart healthy.’

However, its survey of 2,000 UK residents found the average resident in the East Midlands hasn't ridden a bike in nine and a half years and 40 per cent of the people living in the West Midlands admitted they don’t even own a bike.

Elizabeth Tack, British Heart Foundation, said: “It's surprising to learn that whilst there is a clear appetite for cycling in the UK, there is still a vast amount of us who are not getting on our bikes often enough, or even at all. Cycling is a fantastic way of keeping your heart healthy."
