Warwickshire A&E and maternity services under review

A leaked report has revealed that a reorganisation of some NHS services in the region is being considered to save £200 million.

The report, leaked by University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Trust, suggests that maternity and paediatric services could be ‘consolidated’ under the plans, while A&E services at George Eliot Hospital, in Nuneaton, and at Coventry's University Hospital are also under review.

Other proposals in the report include ‘remodelling’ emergency care, increasing the number of mothers giving birth at home, using fewer agency staff and providing more access to GPs.
