Sherwood Forest Hospitals NHS Trust out of special measures
Sherwood Forest Hospitals NHS Trust has been taken out of special measures, after the CQC ordered it to improve over high mortality rates and finances.
The Trust runs Kings Mill Hospital, Newark Hospital and Mansfield Community Hospital, and previously had almost double the national average rate of deaths from sepsis, a bloodstream infection.
The Trust has now been rated ‘good’ for safety, and the latest report cited it was among the best performing in the country for sepsis management and improving mortality rates.
Peter Herring, the trust's chief executive, said while there was much to celebrate in the report there was ‘more to be done’ before the trust could be rated as ‘outstanding’.
