Wales Health Secretary Vaughan Gething has announced that a £350 million Specialist and Critical Care Centre near Cwmbran is expected to open in 2022, after the plan was originally put on hold in 2009.
The plan is part of a wider strategy to modernise health services run by the Aneurin Bevan health board in Gwent.
Getting said: “I am confident that bringing together complex and more acute services on one hospital site will allow the local health board to secure a range of benefits which will improve the quality of care for patients.”
