NHS Herts drops plans for new hospital

West Herts Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) and West Hertfordshire Hospital Trust have announced that there will be no new hospital for West Hertfordshire.

The healthcare organisations have instead said that they will turn their attention to developing the existing sites at Watford and St Albans. The CCG will now look at drawing up new plans for the two existing hospitals before any firm proposals are put forward.

Additionally, the groups have warned that health campaigners had to back the plans or else ‘run the risk of finding ourselves at the back of a very long queue for precious NHS funding’.
