NHS England primary care budget underspent

A finance report by NHS England has led to accountant believing that its primary care budget may have been underspent by £163 million last year.

Budgeted spend was totalled to £10.395 billion, but only £10.232 billion was actually spent, a 1.6 per cent underspend on budget figures.

In total, the finance report detailed how NHS England underspent £600 million last year - a lot of which, some accountants believe, is leaked back in to Treasury hands to plug gaps elsewhere.
