The Association of Healthcare Cleaning Professionals (AHCP) 33rd Annual Healthcare Cleaning & Domestic Management Event takes place in Harrogate, North Yorkshire from 11 – 13 June under the headline theme “Infection Control Under the Spotlight”. Cleaning standards, practices and technologies to enable the prevention and control of healthcare associated infections (HCAIs) will be among the key topics of discussion within three main conference themes: Modernisation, Education & Supply and Motivation. Conference speakers
Delegates will hear from speakers representing England, Scotland, Wales and Ireland, about how each country is dealing with cleaning in light of the growing public expectation about HAI’s. The first morning of the conference will be dedicated to speakers Dr Liz Jones, Head of Patient Environment, Department of Health, England; Paul Kingsmore, Director of Health Facilities, Scotland; Tracey Gauci, Nursing Officer, Department of Health, Wales and a speaker from the Department of Health, Ireland.
On the same day, delegates will be invited to participate in the Best Practice workshop. Andrew Matthews, National Chair of AHCP said:“Identifying and disseminating best practice is emerging as a key issue for many of our countries. This has been recently seen with the Health Commission being given the responsibility to identify best practice and disseminate the information. This is an ideal opportunity for the association to contribute and lead on best practice. The workshop will set out this agenda for future direction.”
Day two of the AHCP conference is filled with topical sessions including the Education RISK Framework on which Richard Sugden and Susan McHugh, Deputy Chair, North, AHCP will speak; Colin Hanks, Training & Education Manager, BICS, imparting how to deliver healthcare education successfully and Emma Shipley, Associate Director for Learning and Development, Darlington NHS Trust, putting forward a case study for Putting Education into Practice Locally.
Annual exhibition
Running alongside the conference at the 2008 event, the annual exhibition will be larger than in previous years and will provide a platform for companies who are suppliers or service providers to managers of cleaning and allied domestic hotel and support services within the public and private sectors, particularly the NHS.
