NMC announces new payment by instalment option

The Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) has declared it is introducing a new payment by instalment option, to give nurses and midwives greater flexibility when paying their annual registration fee.

The new initiative means nurses and midwives can choose to pay their £120 annual registration fee by quarterly direct debit payments of £30. Staff can switch from the annual payment by signing up to quarterly payments by instalment through the NMC online account.

The scheme was launched on 27 June, in response to a call from registrants to provide a more flexible payment system.

Jackie Smith, NMC chief executive and registrar, said: “The NMC is delighted to launch this new payment option, which will give greater flexibility to nurses and midwives when they pay their annual fee. I’m very pleased that we’ve been able to respond to the positive and constructive conversations we’ve had with nurses and midwives to improve this service."
