The neonatal service at Poole Hospital has been recognised with a national award.
The team was named winners in the ‘outstanding team’ category at this year’s Zenith Global Healthcare Professionals Awards.
They share the award with the liver transplant service at Kings College Hospital in London.
The awards scheme seeks to recognise frontline individuals and teams working in healthcare across the UK. It was made in recognition of the neonatal service’s impressive performance and feedback from families.
Poole Hospital outperformed many others in the last national audit of neonatal care, including in the time parents were seen by a consultant after their baby was admitted to the neonatal unit.
Minesh Khashu, consultant neonatologist and professor of perinatal health, said: “We know from the incredible feedback we receive from families that the neonatal care we provide is very well-regarded.
“We also know from audits that the quality and safety of this care is excellent too.
“We work hard as a team – doctors, nurses, advanced neonatal nurse practitioners, therapists, pharmacists and dieticians, together with our administration support and management – to give the best service possible and we’re delighted to have been recognised in this way.”

UK Building Regulations highlight toxic gas and smoke from layers of paint built up over multiple redecorations as a major cause of permanent ill health or death in a building fire.
Their concern rose with discovery the flame retardant paints most widely used paint along escape routes have been ones which to this day counter-productively use emission of heavy toxic gas to smother flames which rapidly spread along walls if layers of paint delaminate in a fire.
