According to new figures, approximately 10,000 EU nationals have quit the NHS since the Brexit referendum.
NHS Digital found that 9,832 EU doctors, nurses and support staff left the NHS workforce in the 12 months to June, with more expected to have left in the months since.
Broken down, this means that 3,885 nurses and 1,794 doctors have left the NHS between June 2016 and June 2017, an increase of 22 per cent on the previous year and 42 per cent on two years previously.
The figures match research by the British Medical Association, who reported that four in 10 EU doctors were considering leaving, with an additional 25 per cent unsure about what to do since the referendum.
