NHS prescriptions to rise by 20p
Health Minister Philip Dunne has revealed that the cost of an NHS prescription in England will increase by 20p to £8.60 from the start of April.
To rise ‘broadly in line with inflation’, the government also announced that the price of dental care will also increase. However, the cost of prescription prepayment certificates (PPC) will not change, remaining at £29.10 for the three month PPC and £104 for the 12 month PCC. PCC saves money for those who need to pay for regular NHS prescriptions in England.
The Department of Health has said that 90 per cent of prescription items were free on the NHS in England.
