NHS organisations opportunity to learn with Local Growth Academy

New modules encouraging NHS organisations to learn from and collaborate with universities and local authorities will take place later this year, NHS Confederation has said.

The Local Growth Academy is a collaboration between NHS Confederation and Local Government Association, Higher Education Funding Council for England (HEFCE) and Universities UK. It will deliver the modules to help NHS organisations, universities and local authorities build on their operational capacity and maximise involvement in local developments.

Issues to be covered include collaborating with other sectors to make lasting local relationships, rethinking estate management, growing local productivity and prosperity, and major product development.

The Local Growth Academy is part of the NHS Confederation’s local growth work. It highlights the significant role of the NHS in driving growth in local economies.

The new modules follow the success of two former sold-out modules held by the academy. They will take place in London, Leeds, Manchester and Birmingham in November and December 2017.

Michael Wood, NHS Confederation’s local growth adviser, said: “It is more important than ever that the NHS understands how local partners work, including what drives their decision-making, where there is common ground and how we might collaborate better in future.

"The Local Growth Academy has been a great way of facilitating this learning and the modules have proved very popular.”
