Assisted dying bill rejected by MPs

It was the first vote on the issue for about 20 years, and saw 330 vote against and 118 vote in favour after a heated debate.

The proposed Assisted Dying Bill would have allowed patients with an obvious desire to end their lives to be prescribed a lethal dose of drugs by two doctors, but only the patient would be allowed to take them.
