Discount on Carillon healthcare contracts for Serco

Facilities management company Serco has cut nearly £20 million off of the price of 15 healthcare contracts it is taking over from failed contractor Carillion.

Spread across 50 NHS sites, the contracts will now be transferred to Serco for £29.7 million, having been worth £47.7 million in December when the deal was first signed. However, following Carillon’s liquidations, Serco re-evaluated ‘potential liabilities, indemnities, warranties’, changing the value in doing so.

Providing services to NHS organisations, including Barts Health, Serco’s existing health operations already generate revenue of more than £350 million, with the contract take over set to add £90 million of revenue and £8 million of profits to the business.
