NHS England has written to local healthcare bosses saying that GP services will be able to close on the day of the Queen's funeral on Monday.
However, they also emphasised that if services are to close, there needs to be enough out-of-hours care.
In the letter, NHS England also said that scheduled Covid booster visits to care homes should be carried out as planned. The letter also said that cancelled appointments should be rescheduled and patients should be able to pick up prescriptions in advance.
In a separate letter to hospitals, NHS England said it expected some patients to not turn up for clinics. Some hospitals have also been cancelling routine treatment planned for Monday.
