Four NHS trusts MOD gold award winners

Four NHS organisations in England have received the highest honour of achievement in the scheme for demonstrating outstanding support to the Armed Forces community.

The Ministry of Defence announced the four NHS trusts as the winners of the 2017 Employer Recognition Scheme, part of the Defence Employer Recognition Scheme which allows organisations to demonstrate and celebrate their level of commitment to reservists and the wider Armed Forces community in their workplace.

The four trusts that will be receiving gold at the ceremony later this year are City Hospitals Sunderland NHS Foundation Trust, Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, North West Ambulance Service NHS Trust, and South Central Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust.

Michael Fallon, Defence Secretary, said: “These companies have shown the gold standard of commitment to supporting members of the Armed Forces, veterans, and their families. They have taken meaningful steps to ensure the Defence community are not disadvantaged by the sacrifice they make in helping keep this country safe. The actions of these employers make it crystal clear that regardless of size, location, or sector, employing people with military skills is good for business.”
