CQC rules that Airedale ‘requires improvement'

Airedale NHS Foundation Trust has been rated as ‘requires improvement’ in its latest Care Quality Commission (CQC) inspection.

The trust, which runs Keighley's Airedale hospital, and Skipton and Castleberg hospitals, was found to have nurse staffing levels in many clinical areas regularly below the planned number, particularly in medical care, surgery and children's services.

It also added that a new emergency department did not have enough doctors to meet national guidance and there were too few specialists in critical care.

Bridget Fletcher, Airedale NHS Foundation Trust chief executive, has said that action plans are already being implemented to improve several key areas.
