Leaders from NHS North West London CCG have claimed that their pilot of the government’s flagship seven-day GP access has resulted in a 10 per cent reduction in the number of A&E attendances.
The figures were retrieved from findings of the largest national pilot area for the GP seven-day access, which enabled 1.9 million patients to access GP services on Saturday and Sunday.
CCG leaders from the pilot found that allowing weekend services at four Westminster GP surgeries resulted in a ten per cent reduction in A&E attendance and an 11.5 per cent drop in A&E admissions for patients from the surgeries aged 60 and over.
In an interview with Pulse, a spokeswoman for NHS North West London CCG, said: “Seven-day opening hours were piloted at four practices for a period ranging between two to ten months. Weekend opening hours were between 10:00 – 18:00 at three practices and 08:00 – 16:00 at one.”

UK Building Regulations highlight toxic gas and smoke from layers of paint built up over multiple redecorations as a major cause of permanent ill health or death in a building fire.
Their concern rose with discovery the flame retardant paints most widely used paint along escape routes have been ones which to this day counter-productively use emission of heavy toxic gas to smother flames which rapidly spread along walls if layers of paint delaminate in a fire.
