Norman Lamb to chair West Midlands mental health commission

Lamb will lead a panel including NHS England national clinical director for mental health, Geraldine Strathdee, and Public Health England director of health and wellbeing, Kevin Fenton.

The panel will be responsible for assessing the scale of mental health problems in the region, including their cost and impact across the whole healthcare system. It will also be responsible for identifying best practice both nationally and internationally, making recommendations on how these findings could improve services in the region.

Lamb said: “This is a really interesting and exciting opportunity to make a difference for those with mental ill-health. It’s brilliant that local authorities in the West Midlands have taken this initiative.”
