Bolton GP rated ‘outstanding’ by CQC

The Care Quality Commission (CQC) has found the quality of care provided by Bolton General Practice to be ‘outstanding’ following a June inspection.

The practice was rated ‘outstanding’ for being caring and responsive, and ‘good’ for being safe, effective and well-led, giving them an overall ‘outstanding’ rating.

The CQC found that the practice used innovative and proactive methods to improve patient outcomes, working with other local providers to share best practice.

It also found that the practice implemented suggestions for improvements and made changes to the way it delivered services as a consequence of feedback from patients and from the patient participation group.

Bolton General Practice also had a diverse population, and, in order to meet the need of patients from a different background and for those whose first language was not English, the practice had multi-lingual literature, attended local community events and worked with local organisations.

The CQC also commended the practice for being proactive in providing ‘safety nets’ for vulnerable and at risk patients.

Alison Holbourn, CQC’s deputy chief inspector of general practice in the North, said: “Bolton General Practice is an impressive service that was delivering high quality care across all of the areas that we look at on inspection.

“The feedback we received from people using their services was extremely positive. The practice also listened to the feedback people gave and used it to improve their services.

“The practice is extremely responsive to the needs of people using their services. They work closely with other organisations and the local community to plan services ensuring they meet people’s needs.

“All of the staff at this practice should be very proud of the service they are providing. Other providers should look to them as an example of how to provide great care.”
