Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust and Yorkshire Ambulance Service are extending the sharing of data, allowing the electronic transfer of ambulance care records directly into the hospital system.
The trust states that automatically transferring ambulance service documentation into the trust’s electronic patient health record will save time and resource when receiving a patient into acute care. It also ensures clinical and care teams are provided with up to date information at the right time, benefitting patient care.
The Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust and Yorkshire Ambulance Service team has worked closely with colleagues from Yorkshire & Humber Care Record on this development, supported by Local Health and Care Record Exemplar funding designed to encourage digital innovation across the Yorkshire region.
Andy Webster, Emergency Medicine Consultant & CCIO at Leeds Teaching Hospitals, said: “A&E is fast moving so the technology we use has to help us do our job efficiently and safely. Receiving documentation as an automated process considerably speeds up the process of transferring the patient from the care of the paramedics to the A&E team. It also removes a lot of manual work for our reception team, saving them valuable time. Congratulations to the team who have worked so hard to implement this latest development, which will save clinical time and support effective decision making.”

UK Building Regulations highlight toxic gas and smoke from layers of paint built up over multiple redecorations as a major cause of permanent ill health or death in a building fire.
Their concern rose with discovery the flame retardant paints most widely used paint along escape routes have been ones which to this day counter-productively use emission of heavy toxic gas to smother flames which rapidly spread along walls if layers of paint delaminate in a fire.
