The NHS is celebrating its 74th birthday on 5 July. In honour of the occasion, tea parties are expected across the country to raise money for NHS Charities Together.
Last year, the money raised by the NHS Big Tea raised enough money to support more than 600 projects across the UK. This year, organisers are calling for supporters to raise money for extra support for NHS staff, patients and volunteers and to provide essentials like a place to rest, counselling for exhausted staff or training for community volunteers.
On social media, and NHS spokesperson said “We want to say a huge thank you to our amazing staff, key workers and the public - join us in celebrating 74 years of the NHS.”
People are invited to join the fundraiser with a tea party at home, school, work or in the community. Fundraisers are welcome to donate to NHS Charities Together, or another NHS cause or charity.
More information is available on the NHS Big Tea website, https://www.nhsbigtea.co.uk/.
