Notable omissions in Hunt’s speech, says Dickson

The head of the NHS Confederation has highlighted Jeremy Hunt’s failure to address social care and the fragile state of health services in his Conservative Party conference address.

Following the recent publication of the Healthcare on the brink report, Niall Dickson said the Health Secretary’s speech lacked any mention of the current crisis in social care and omitted the real concerns among many NHS workers about the pressures of the winter months.

As part of his speech, Hunt promised to increase the number of nurses trained by 25 per cent and pledged to use NHS land to build affordable homes for NHS staff.
