Three hospitals fail fire safety checks

Buildings at London's King's College Hospital, Sheffield's Children's NHS Foundation Trust and the North Middlesex Trust have been found to have combustible cladding.

The fire safety checks, which have been initiated by Health Secretary Jeremy Hunt in the aftermath of the Grenfell Tower fire last month, have prompted each site to undertake steps to improve safety.

The building at King's College Hospital does not house patients, while the sites at Sheffield's children's hospital and the North Middlesex Trust do, but do not keep patients in overnight. King's College Hospital has already removed the cladding from its office building as a ‘precautionary measure’, after the investigation by specialist fire engineers Arup.
