Simon Wright, the under pressure chief executive of The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust, has announced that he is to leave the role.
Set to take up a role working with Sustainability and Transformation Partnerships, Wright said that ‘although there are still many challenges remaining’, the trust was beginning to embark upon an exciting journey and was glad to leave when the ‘foundations have been laid to build a better future’.
One of the challenges Wright alluded to is ongoing concerns over maternity and emergency services, for which the trust was placed in special measures in November. The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust is also being investigated over baby deaths, with the scope of a review widened to include questions or concerns from 250 families.
