Employing more pharmacists in patient facing roles within GP practices is part of the government’s ‘new deal’, designed to ease the work load of GPs. The original pilot scheme said it would provide £15 million worth of funding to employ roughly 300 clinical pharmacists.
NHS England chief executive Simon Stevens has said that the scheme will now be expanded to 375 places due to an ‘absolutely staggering’ response to the original call for bids.
When the scheme was first announced in July, Stevens said: “This has the potential to be a win-win-win for patients, their GPs and for pharmacists.
“Tapping into the skills of clinical pharmacists should help expand care and relieve some of the pressure that GPs are clearly under. This isn’t a silver bullet but it is a practical and constructive contribution to the wider challenge.”

UK Building Regulations highlight toxic gas and smoke from layers of paint built up over multiple redecorations as a major cause of permanent ill health or death in a building fire.
Their concern rose with discovery the flame retardant paints most widely used paint along escape routes have been ones which to this day counter-productively use emission of heavy toxic gas to smother flames which rapidly spread along walls if layers of paint delaminate in a fire.
