Figures indicate that many people in England are still waiting longer than 24 hours for their coronavirus test results.
Data up to 24 June shows that four in 10 tests done by mobile units and three in 10 carried out at regional drive-thru centres were taking longer than that. This is despite ministers, including Prime Minister Boris Johnson, previously saying that they expected such tests to be processed in 24 hours by the end of June.
But the data - the first released on 24-hour turn around times - shows significant progress has been made. Four times as many tests are being processed within a day than were being done at the start of June when the Prime Minister made his pledge.
The Department of Health figures showed 24-hour turnaround performance of: 72 per cent for 70 drive-thru centres, up from 19 per cent at start of June; 61 per cent for 166 mobile units, up from five per cent at start of June; and 22 per cent for batches posted to care homes and nine per cent for home-test kits - although these processing times are affected by how quickly people use the tests.

UK Building Regulations highlight toxic gas and smoke from layers of paint built up over multiple redecorations as a major cause of permanent ill health or death in a building fire.
Their concern rose with discovery the flame retardant paints most widely used paint along escape routes have been ones which to this day counter-productively use emission of heavy toxic gas to smother flames which rapidly spread along walls if layers of paint delaminate in a fire.
