New £40m wing open at Sheffield Children’s Hospital

Young patients at Sheffield Children’s NHS Foundation Trust will now benefit from new hospital facilities following the opening of a new £40 million hospital wing.

Including four new wards, the new wing will see all 72 new children’s beds have a fold-out bed next to them, allowing parents a comfortable place to stay with their child. This compliments the new therapy rooms, patient dining room, parent relaxation room and teenage hang out room. Many patients will get individual rooms with en-suite bathrooms.

John Somers, Sheffield Children’s Hospital’s chief executive, said: “Our new wards are incredible. The space, privacy and facilities provided for patients are outstanding and will make a massive difference for the families we see at Sheffield Children’s. The opening of these wards matches our world-class care with world-class facilities.”
